Inspiring Journeys, One Story at a Time

About Me

Hey there! I’m Eriko—a Japan-born travel lover with a soft spot for delicious food and hidden gems. After living in the UK for two years and travelling around Europe, I’m now back home in Osaka, Japan, sharing the country I love from both a local and a traveller’s perspective. Think real recommendations, honest tips, and the little details that can make your trip to Japan feel more meaningful—not just another checklist.

My Journey So Far…

I grew up in Osaka, Japan, and studied Housing and Environmental Design. After graduating, I spent seven years working for a property management company. But deep down, I have always loved travelling. Every school break during university, I travelled—Canada, Australia, the USA, and countries across Europe and Asia. Even after starting full-time work, despite Japan’s limited holiday allowances, I kept chasing new places whenever I could.
In the summer of 2023, I quit my job and spent six unforgettable weeks travelling around Europe. That trip changed everything. As my 30th birthday approached, I finally took the leap and moved to Bristol, UK.

Life in the UK

I lived in Bristol for two years, working in hospitality, exploring the UK, and travelling around Europe. I’ve now visited more than 30 countries. Living abroad gave me a new culture, a new language to live in day to day, and a completely different perspective on life—and on my own country.

Coming Home—With New Eyes

After two years abroad, I moved back to Osaka—and started seeing Japan differently. Things I had always taken for granted growing up here suddenly felt fascinating. Japanese food, seasonal traditions, everyday etiquette, convenience, hospitality, and even the little things about daily life started to look different through the eyes of someone who had experienced being a foreigner in a new country.
That’s what this blog is about now: sharing Japan with inbound travellers—the food, the etiquette, the places worth visiting, and the small details that can make your trip here smoother and more meaningful. Having lived abroad myself, I know how exciting—and sometimes confusing—it can be to navigate a new country. I want to share the things I wish I’d known before travelling, along with the places and experiences I genuinely love.
