Who Am I?

Hey there! I’m Eriko—a travel lover with a soft spot for delicious food and hidden gems. Originally from Japan, I’ve wandered through countries near and far, collecting stories, laughs, and the occasional travel mishap along the way. Now based in Bristol, I’m here to share my adventures, foodie finds, and everyday moments of magic. Through this blog, I hope to pass on a bit of that excitement and maybe inspire your own adventures.

My Journey So Far…

I grew up in Osaka, Japan, and studied Housing and Environmental Design. After graduating, I spent seven years working for a property management company. But deep down, I always had a dream: to live abroad and improve my English.

While I was at university, I made the most of every school break by traveling abroad. I took at least two trips a year, starting with Canada, Australia, the USA, and several countries across Europe and Asia. Even after starting full-time work—despite Japan’s short holiday allowances—I kept traveling whenever I could, always excited to discover new places.

Getting a two-week holiday was tricky, though, so I had to put my European travel plans on hold. But in the summer of 2023, I quit my job and spent six unforgettable weeks traveling around Europe. That experience shifted my perspective and gave me the push I needed.

As my 30th birthday approached, I finally decided to take the leap—and here I am in the UK!

Why Bristol?

For years, I dreamed of living somewhere I could use English every day—not just as a student, but by truly experiencing the culture firsthand. Even back in Japan, where English wasn’t a necessity, I kept at it. It wasn’t just a hobby; it felt like something I was meant to do.

I’ve always loved exploring Europe and have visited more than 30 countries so far. Moving to the UK felt like the perfect way to combine my passion for travel with my dream of living abroad.

When choosing a city, I knew London wasn’t for me. As exciting as it is, I prefer smaller cities with a more relaxed vibe and easy access to nature. That’s how I landed on Bristol—and it’s been spot-on! With its friendly atmosphere, green spaces, and creative energy, Bristol feels just right.
